Mummy Mantra #2
24 July 2018Mantras are a great way to put a stop to negative thinking, to uplift your mood, make you feel more confident, patient, mindful and if used effectively (along with other meditative techniques) can have a very calming influence on the way you parent.
Here’s one of the mantras I use almost daily.
|| Lose Yourself in Action ||
One of the hardest things, I believe, about being a stay-at-home mum is having an idle mind. While looking after a tiny little human is of course rewarding, the lack of mental stimulation along with the monotony of the job can be extremely fatiguing and the perfect combo to spur on negative thoughts or feelings.
So, on those quiet days, when there’s not much going on and my mind starts to wander, I lose myself in action. I do something, anything! to keep BUSY. And voilà – those negative thoughts/feelings turn into a sense of calmness or achievement over what I’m accomplishing.
As Elizabeth Gilbert said in her book ‘Big Magic’, the brain is like a border-collie – give it a job or it will invent one!
Dishes, here I come!
